About Me

Hi, I'm Mike Schmidt. I'm a recent graduate of the Department of Physics at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I studied physics and mathematics as an undergraduate also at the University of Colorado.

While most of my education has been in physics I find myself trending more heavily to the mathematical side of physics. In fact, I like to approach physics from the mathematical mindset rather than the physics mindset.

Although I love pure mathematics, I also spend a great deal of time playing around with computer simulations of physics. I've written and worked on many different simulations from the canonical Ising Model to dynamical plasma simulations.

In the most broad sense my goals are to improve my education and continue to learn more about anything which happens to catch my interest. I would love to become more versed in the realm of mathematics and eventually use my understanding of both physics and mathematics to help both fields work together and to maybe, using my intuition in both, make great strides in both.

In my free time I climb, backpack, ski, bike, dabble in film photography, and dance blues and swing.
