The Automated Survey System Homepage
This system was created to assist professors and students in administering
surveys to gather academic research.
Previously surveys were sent out via standard mail and returned via standard
mail. This proved to be a lengthy and potentially expensive practice. This
system works by sending the person to be surveyed a survey code and URL via
electronic mail, standard mail, or even telephone. The user 'logs on' to the
system and completes the survey. The results are stored in a format that is
compatible with database and statistical programs. In addition this system
includes a UNIX based program to help the researcher create surveys easily and
quickly.
Here are some additional links and information about online surveys:
-
The Instructional Technology Resource Center at the University of Colorado
currently offers an excellent example of an online survey system.
-
The National Center for Atmospheric Research
(NCAR) administers surveys to employees within their company and to outside
researchers to gather data on a variety of internal and external topics. This
survey system is unique as it allows surveys to be retaken and the results
updated as a person changes their opinion.
